Ultra-Sounds
Ultra-Sounds are recommended to detect abdominal abnormalities both for pregnant and non-pregnant patients. The ultra-sounds are performed in the Brick Office only and allow for immediate review by either an ultra-sound technician or one of our physicians depending on who performed the ultra-sound. If an abnormality is detected additional ultra-sounds and/or an MRI can be ordered without having to wait for an outside facility's results. Most insurance companies allow the ultra-sounds to be done in our offices.

Bone Density Scans
Bone Density Scans are recommended for all woman over 40 years of age. The scans can detect the reduction in bone density which is a pre-cursor for Ostopenia in woman. This condition is generally caused by the loss of calcium as part of the aging process. This loss of calcium causes the bones of the body to lose mass especially in the arms, legs and spinal column. This condition is the cause in most cases for the stooped over posture of our senior citizens. Early detection of the condition can slow down the process and in most cases if caught early enough can prevent the stooped posture.

3D/4D Ultra-Sounds
The 3D/4D Ultra-Sounds provide a more detailed ultra-sound than regular ultra-sounds. Medical insurance companies originally viewed the 3D/4D ultra-sounds as not medically necessary. The trend now is that more and more insurance companies will pay for the 3D/4D's with proof of medical necessity furnished by the physician. The 4D portion of the ultra-sound performed on a pregnant patient allow for the viewing and recording of the fetus in utero. Baby movements can be detected and recorded onto a CD/DVD and played back on a home DVD player. Check with your insurance company if you are thinking about a 4D ultra-sound. Blood Work
Blood is only drawn at the Brick Office where a LABCORP Technician is on site. Having the LABCORP technician on site helps expedite the blood cultures being sent to the correct lab. i.e. Quest Diagnostics or LABCORP. Having the LABCORP technician on site also makes it easier for the patient to have the blood drawn without extensive waits at an outside lab location. There is no additional charge for this convenient service.

Urological Testing
Urology Testing is recommended when a patient comes to the office with a urinary problem, usually urinary incontenance (Leakage). Tests are performed to rule out an infection. Once infection is ruled out it is then determined if urology testing is warranted to determine the cause of the problem. Based upon the urology testing the following can be determined but is not limited to there is a weakness in the bladder. The bladder has dropped, the bladder is not voiding completely, problems with the neck of the bladder, etc.
